Sunshine Coast Council selects economy.id for major economic data project

Sunshine Coast Council recently released its Economic Development Strategy, and to keep track of the progress towards their economic development goals they selected economy.id, the online economic profile from .id.

Conducted in conjunction with the University of the Sunshine Coast, the selection process included a detailed analysis of competing products and services.  Economy.id was ultimately chosen for its ease of use, and the relevance and accuracy of the NIEIR modelled data.

At the launch in mid-October, stakeholders from the Council and University commented:

“Researchers, media outlets and the public can now access economy.id, an online economic data source for the Sunshine Coast region,” Economic Development (emerging industries) portfolio Councillor Stephen Robinson said.

“This online tool can monitor and track the local economy and benchmark our region against other regions, the State in general, and nationally.

“It will also assist in the compilation of a periodic economic review report, which will provide regular, reliable information to the community.  Most importantly it will provide ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the delivery of the recently released Economic Development Strategy and help drive inward investment.

“It’s no use setting important goals unless we have a way to measure it and report back.”

USC Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Michael Heffernan also commented on how the tool will be an easily accessible, one-stop shop for the region’s economic data.
