I am involved in community groups in the rural towns of Yarragon and Trafalgar in the Baw Baw Shire. Two combined subdivisions totalling 645 lots have been lodged with the Baw Baw Shire which will increase Trafalgar,s population alone by 50 per cent. Another application to the Minister for a rezoning for 367 lots in Yarragon is being considered, (Amendment 96A). Also, Council in this years budget has funded a review of the 2013 Settlement Plan for Yarragon. The community is saying they want 96A referred to the Settlement Plan review in light of the many changes since 2013, i.e. greater than predicted pop. growth, the 100km. radius out of Melb. to protect agricultural land terminating just short of Yarragon, and better subdivision planning that stands up at VCAT, such as ESD planning. In short we need to grow our towns to a liveable sustainable size, hopefully with the relative infrastructure. We don’t want what we see in Pakenham and now even Drouin put in Yarragon and Trafalgar.
