The ‘man drought’ certainly is an ‘at most’ scenario. In the City of Sydney LGA its 112 men for every 100 women and in some parts (Surry Hills) 137 men for every woman!

I a big believer in getting people to think about population issues in engaging and entertaining ways. However, I have seen the ‘how you help the Bridget Jones’ of the world?’ presentation a few times over the years and find it narrow, sexist and ageist. Thank you for a different perspective on it Glenn.

Well done. Actually I AM just one woman who turned 45 just after the census, my de facto of 23 years (and five censuses) was 45 earlier that year and then there’s the question of the rest of the form where the box ‘child of both persons 1 and 2’ is ticked. I might also be tempted to add a ‘PS’ to another social commentator in reference to children in unstable 23 year old de facto relatonships living in low socio-economic areas on the lower north shore with only both of their professionally qualified and gainfully employed natural parents.
