I think I can now claim accuracy on #1 – the ABS released Australian Demographic Statistics today (Wed 20th June) which while it mainly contained ERP data, also contains direct Census counts in the feature article about the rebasing process. This is the first data released from the 2011 Census, so my original prediction was correct!

    This also gives us a figure for prediction #2 – the Census count was 21,507,700 (usual residence). So prediction #2 is looking pretty good when we add in the number of overseas visitors to find the total count.
